Newhaven Visitors Guide

Newhaven is a town in East Sussex. Newhaven lies at the mouth of the River Ouse, on the English Channel coast, and is a ferry port for services to France.

Newhaven has regular trains to London and local trains to Lewes and Seaford.

Newhaven Fort, one of the Palmerston Forts, was built on Castle Hill on the recommendation of the 1859 Royal Commission to defend the growing harbour It was the largest defence work ever built in Sussex and is now open as a museum.

Newhaven is home to a thriving marina and there are opportunities for scuba diving, water skiing and surfboarding.

Newhaven has a number of shops, pubs and restaurants. If you are staying overnight, there are a number of hotels and Bed and Breakfast establishments in Newhaven.
